Meet Declan Cox
Hey folks I thought a few words about my bike fixing history might be a good idea.
I began fixing my own courier bike at 18 when I worked for Office Express as Bike 12 (yep 12th ever courier in welli!) I’m still fixing Bike 4’s bike ! I then worked at a Schwinn/Cannondale/GT dealer in Nebraska called Bicycle Specialties for a couple of years(the first full suspension bikes came through then)
Back in NZ I worked with Antosh at Bikes Unlimited and also with Antosh at Sam’s bike shop, after Tosh left I had the pleasure of working with Ben Thomson (now owner of Londons Cycleworx), altogether 4 years or so.
Next was Pins cycles on Willis st where I first worked with Paul Davies and a few ghosts in the basement! (no joke)
Then a few years stint at Mud Cycles in the old supermarket building in South Karori (now apartments of course). Mudsy went into shipping containers for a while and I then went to Capital Cycles.
I worked at the original Capital with Antosh, Shane Joyce, Hayden Lawrence and Simon Bickers for two years before starting my first shop, Valley Cycles on Aro St. Valley was open for three years.
I decided a bit of timetable freedom was desirable and closed Valley Cycles and returned to Capital Cycles and the new owners Shane Joyce and Paul Davies (yep the same Pauli D as Pins days) all round awesome staff: Olenka, Jono Coates, Mark Soanes, James Duncan, Michael”PEACHES”Peach, Rowan Hollings and Rich Epsom.
I currently still work with the Capital crew on Saturdays and casual cover while also running my new Cycle Studio DECOBIKES Woohoo!
Needless to say I’ve worked on a loooottt of bikes in my twenty years of bike geekness(self confessed). You name it I’ve fixed it or built it!
So get in touch if I can help you in anyway big or small
Thanks Declan”DECO”Cox
